Why can’t I scan my product’s barcode?

The BWS+ App’s barcode scanner works best for food products based in North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Our nutrition database is strongest in these regions, meaning barcode recognition is most reliable for items sold there.

If you’re scanning products outside these areas, barcode matches may be limited or unavailable. We’re continuing to expand our international database so that barcode scanning becomes more globally accessible over time.

Alternative Option: Use the Meal Scan

If your product has a nutrition label printed on the packaging, try using the Meal Scan feature instead.

• Open the Meal Scan camera and point it at the nutrition label.

• The app will attempt to read and extract the nutritional information directly from the label.

Using this method may capture product details when the barcode doesn’t return results.

If You Can’t Access the Camera

If your camera appears blank or black when trying to scan:

1. Make sure you’ve given the BWS+ App permission to use your camera in your phone’s settings.

2. If permissions are already enabled, try restarting your phone to clear any device-related issues.
